Hive Visit in Pictures

Just thought I'd share some pictures  of the hive visit this week so you can see the hive as we go through it

This is the crown board that sits underneath the roof-this is just after opening the hive

Bees in between super frames, this gap is called 'bee space' it's just big enough for the bees to work in but small enough that they don't start building comb across the gaps. You can even see their little tongues poking in the honey!


This is looking down onto the second super after some frames have been removed from the third. The bottom of a frame had come loose and stuck to the one below- this is the lump of honeycomb you can see


Here you can see a frame of pollen stores


Here is a bigger brood frame, you can see capped brood and white larvae as they develop
